Assigning Lessons to a Student Manually

When a student takes a placement assessment, an ILP is automatically assigned to a student. In this case, no action from the educator is needed. Should an educator want to assign specific lessons from a higher learning path for a student, use the steps below. When lessons from a higher level are manually assigned, the lessons are made available to the student in the order they appear in the learning path structure. Students must complete each lesson to move to the next one.

A couple reasons why an educator would want to assign some lessons are: 

• A student has completed their learning path and another assessment window is approaching. Instead of moving the student up into a new learning path, assigning a couple lessons will buy time until the assessment. 
• A student has completed their learning path, but seems to be moving at a fast pace. Assigning a couple lessons at a time can slow the student down and allow the educator to review the items of the student. 
• There is a concept in class the teacher is covering and would like students to take a lesson on it. 

1. Click the Class card.
   
2. Click Class Summary.
   
3. Under any of the fields, click the student's name.
   
4. Toggle Show Unassigned Lessons.
   
5. Scroll to the grade level higher than the current placement. 
   
6. Click Assign under the more options button to the lesson desired.
   
   

   Before clicking Assign, click View Lesson to see what content the student is expected to learn.

7. Click Assign.
